Here are some tips for providing residential post construction and renovation cleaning:
- Remove large construction material and debris, putting it into the on-site dumpster.
- Sweep or use a heavy duty vacuum or back pack vacuum to remove construction dust and smaller debris, starting high and working your way down. Be sure to vacuum the insides of cabinets, as dust gets inside and along the corners and edges.
- Dust or wipe down surfaces such as walls, door frames, ledges, stair rails, etc.
- Start wet cleaning - bathrooms, kitchens, countertops and any other areas to be cleaned with cleaning chemicals such as all-purpose cleaners, stainless steel cleaners or window cleaners. Remove stickers from fixtures and clean the insides of cabinets and drawers.
- Clean windows and window frames. You may need additional tools to remove drywall mud and stickers. Be careful when cleaning windows, they can be easily scratched.
- Sweep or vacuum hard floor surfaces and wet mop, making sure all drywall mud and paint is removed. Some flooring may need additional service if construction workers were not careful covering up floors with plastic.
- Detail vacuum the carpet, including all edges. Also remove all drywall mud and paint. Some carpet may need to be professionally cleaned if the contractors didn't provide enough protection from dirt and debris.
- Perform a final walk through of the location, touching up any areas as needed.
